Before you start any new training or nutrition program have some assessments done, and retest often. You have to know where you are before you can decide on how to get to where you want to go.
Just like with any health screening or doctor’s visit, you should be getting check ups often, about every 3-6 months if possible. It’s best to evaluate trends and adjust accordingly rather than basing your plan of attack on a single screen shot from one particular moment in time. That one test can vary day to day based on different variables like stress, glucose levels, time of day, etc. Remember, if you’re not testing, you’re guessing. And the best results don’t come from guessing.
The best tests will not only help you improve your performance, but also your longevity. Hopefully being fit and healthy is a life long plan of yours and not just a New Year’s resolution or summer crash diet that you’re only sticking with for a month or two.

If your primary medical physician doesn’t provide a movement screening, ask for a referral to a personal trainer, chiropractor or physical therapist.
